A product on a white background tells buyers what it is. A product in a styled room tells them how it fits into their life. Lifestyle imagery drives engagement, reduces returns, and commands premium positioning—but producing it traditionally requires location scouts, set designers, stylists, and multi-day shoots.
Product Staging generates styled room scenes around your furniture using AI, transforming any product photo into lifestyle imagery in minutes.
What It Does
Product Staging takes your product photograph and generates a complete room environment around it. The AI keeps your product exactly as photographed—same color, materials, and proportions—while creating believable backgrounds, complementary decor, and appropriate lighting.
You choose from curated design aesthetics or upload your own inspiration images. The AI understands interior design principles and generates cohesive scenes that make your furniture look at home.
Design Aesthetics Available
Scandinavian (Scandi)
Airy neutrals, light woods, layered textures. The AI creates spaces with pale wood floors, muted color palettes, and soft natural materials. Perfect for minimalist and contemporary furniture.
Mid-Century Modern
Warm woods, tapered legs, retro accents. Think walnut tones, clean lines, and subtle period details. Ideal for pieces with mid-century DNA or modern interpretations of classic forms.
Modern Coastal
Crisp whites, ocean blues, relaxed linen. Bright, airy spaces with natural light and seaside sensibility. Works beautifully with light-colored upholstery and casual silhouettes.
Bohemian
Vibrant patterns, layered textiles, eclectic global influence. Rich, collected spaces with saturated colors and visual complexity. Best for pieces that can hold their own in a maximalist setting.
Japandi
Minimal lines, natural materials, calm palette. A fusion of Japanese and Scandinavian sensibilities—understated, intentional, and serene. Excellent for refined, architecturally significant pieces.
Custom Reference
Upload your own inspiration image to guide the AI. Match a specific project aesthetic, respond to a client's mood board, or create consistency across a marketing campaign.
How to Use It
Step 1: Upload Your Product Image
Select a clear photograph of your furniture. Best results come from:
- Clean background or already-isolated product
- Good lighting on the furniture itself
- Angle that shows the piece well
The product will be preserved exactly—focus on capturing it accurately.
Step 2: Choose Your Style
Click a preset aesthetic or upload a custom reference image:
Using Presets: Click Scandi, Mid-Century, Modern Coastal, Bohemian, or Japandi. The AI understands these design languages deeply.
Using Custom Reference: Click the "Custom reference" card and upload an interior design image, a competitor's lifestyle shot, or an architectural photograph. The AI will match the environment's character.
Step 3: Configure Generation
- Output Size: Choose dimensions appropriate for your use case
- Number of Images: Generate multiple variations (1-10) to select the best composition
- Quality Mode: Toggle for best results vs. faster processing
Step 4: Generate and Review
Click "Generate Images" and review the results. Each variation offers a different interpretation—different room layouts, lighting conditions, and styling details. Select your favorites for download or further editing.
Advanced Options
Under "Advanced," you can fine-tune:
- Prompt Draft: The AI's interpretation of your style choice. Edit to add specific requirements like "hardwood floors" or "floor-to-ceiling windows"
- Seed: Lock in a seed for reproducible results
- Guidance: Control how strictly the AI follows the style direction
- Inpaint Strength: Adjust how much the environment differs from a neutral default
Tips for Best Results
Start with Clean Product Shots
While Product Staging can work with any image, cleaner sources produce cleaner results:
- Isolated products on white/neutral backgrounds work best
- Use Remove Background first if your original has distracting elements
- Ensure good lighting on the product itself
Generate Multiple Variations
Request 3-5 variations to see different interpretations:
- Different room angles and layouts
- Varied lighting conditions (morning light vs. evening)
- Alternative styling details
Match Style to Product
Some aesthetics complement certain furniture better:
- Contemporary pieces often shine in Scandi or Japandi settings
- Traditional or transitional furniture works well with Mid-Century or custom references
- Casual, comfortable pieces suit Coastal or Bohemian environments
Use Custom References Strategically
Custom reference images are powerful for:
- Matching a specific client's aesthetic
- Creating campaign consistency
- Responding to competitor imagery with your own products
Practical Applications
Case: E-commerce Enhancement
Your dining table is photographed on white. For your website, generate a Mid-Century room scene that helps customers envision it in their home. The lifestyle image typically outperforms the white background shot in engagement metrics.
Case: Social Media Content
You need fresh content for Instagram, but your photography budget is spent. Use Product Staging to create varied lifestyle shots from your existing product library. Each style preset gives you distinct content angles.
Case: Client Presentations
A designer client is working on a modern coastal vacation home. Upload a photo from their project's mood board as a custom reference, then show your sofa staged in that aesthetic. You're speaking their design language.
Case: Catalog Layouts
Your print catalog alternates between white background and lifestyle shots. Rather than planning separate shoots, photograph everything on white and generate lifestyle variations as needed. Maximum flexibility, minimum logistics.
Quality vs. Speed
Toggle between Quality and Fast mode:
- Quality Mode: Produces the most refined, photorealistic results. Best for hero images, final deliverables, and close inspection.
- Fast Mode: Quicker turnaround for exploration and initial concepts. Still excellent quality, slightly less refinement.
Start with Fast mode to explore options, then regenerate your selection in Quality mode for final assets.
Cost and Credits
Product Staging uses credits based on output size and number of variations. The cost estimate displays before you generate. Given the alternative—coordinating location shoots with furniture logistics—the value equation strongly favors AI-generated lifestyle imagery for most catalog needs.
